26 < 29er < 650B < 26

It seems these days that we have not heard the last news  from the wheel wars. Bike manufacturers stopped producing 26ers and some of them have begun to transition out of the 29ers. It appears that they have found a happy medium, the 650B. This is not a surprise to anyone with the slightest degree of common sense. I have been harping on the point that Bicycle manufacturers would do this for three years now. Here is what you need to know.

The 650B is just a 26er with high volume tires. The actual wheel size of a 26er is 26.5 and running a 2.3  tire almost makes it identical in wheel size to the 650b. Normally these two sizes are separated by half an inch or 12.5mm. The idea that the 650B is the happy medium is simply not true.
