It's all about the bejamins...why I never converted to a 29er

Most people rely on the information given by them. If you are into bikes, you expect this information to flow from the bike manufacturers then trickle down to the local store and then to the consumer. But sometimes the information is wrong and it happens to be a "marketing" hype. It is up to the consumer to become knowledgeable.

Most people ask me why I have such a big problem with the new 29er trend. Simply put, I hate the fact that bike manufacturers are making decisions for the consumers by limiting supply. This is the business model they are currently running.  They are selling the 29er bicycle with wrong specs because it is just about money.

So next time you are buying your bicycle ask yourself what other standards are waiting to emerge. Currently the 650B is in the process of becoming yet another standard. Some in the industry are claiming that the 650B is better than the 29er and better than a 26. In its first debut in the XC World Cup 2nd round Nino Shurter won the race on a 650B. Many companies are starting to produce parts for this new standard. Everything from wheels, forks, frames and so on.

Listen to what the reasoning is going to be behind it. As I have discussed before, it is not whether the bike is better or not but what happens to the other options as the industry tries to push a new standard. Should 26" bicycles become obsolete because some people liek 650B or 29er. My believe is that we should have all options.
